Osama Bin Laden, The Man Behind 9/11 Attack is Dead

Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of the Sept. 11 terror attack is dead. United States forces have been seeking him ever since. Finally after almost ten years, the Al Qaeda leader was killed.

U.S. President Barack Obama confirmed in his statement that Osama Bin Laden was killed by U.S. military troops in a mansion near Islamabad, Pakistan. The president said in his nationwide television address that the world’s most wanted man was killed after a firefight by a small group of American soldiers. There were no Americans killed and no civilians harmed. The United States are taking custody of Bin Laden’s body.

Citizens of the United States are now rejoicing and celebrating in front of the White House. The death of Bin Laden is a remarkable event for them, after the catastrophic terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 where thousands of lives suffered.

According to Obama, justice has been done. This event does not mark the end of the war against Al Qaeda because they will remain vigilant and their security will be strengthen to avoid more terrorist attacks on their shore.

At Sunday night around 11 p.m., a 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck the Central Arkansas at about four miles northeast of Greenbrier and an aftershock of 18 minutes from the 11 p.m. earthquake also shook the city with 3.8 magnitude. Initially, four earthquakes are recorded.

Citizens of Arkansas together with Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi immediately reported to the U.S. Geological Survey website that quakes been felt around their cities.

The U.S.G.S. reported that three 3.0 magnitude or greater shake the city within 15 hours of each other.

“We all got a pretty good shake, but no reports of damage at this time.” Maxwell said.

“I actually thought someone was in my house the shaking was so bad.” a resident of Haskell, Tammy Smith, said about the quake that hit them.

British Man Convicted in Iraq For 20 Years

The 30-year old Danny Fitzsimons was put onto guilty in Iraqi court last Monday at the case of shooting a British and Australian contractors who both work with him; and an attempt to kill an Iraqi guard. The Iraqi court sent Fitzsimons to jail for 20 years, which is the first West man to be convicted in an Iraqi court.

Saying that he was “happy with the sentence,” when asked whether he thought of the trial is just, he then replied “No.”

The former security contractor of the England-base Rochdale, Fitzsimons eagerly admitted the shooting to the two other co-workers but added that it was a self-defense as the two killed are drunk and tried to kill him. He also appealed that he is under post-traumatic stress disorder.

In this regard, the head judge said that in putting on the sentence, Fitzsimons’ mental condition was took into consideration.

“Danny Fitzsimons, the court has found established evidence that you killed the two slain men and attempted to kill the third,” the head judge of the three-judge panel declared. “So the court issues its sentence according to … the Iraqi criminal code and sentences you to 20 years in prison,” the judge then said.

Meanwhile, the side of the sentenced has 30 days to appeal to the court which, Tariq Harb, an Iraqi lawyer of Danny, said that they will do.

“This is a very good sentence. I saved him from the gallows,” Harb also commented on the trial.

Danny faced the trial with his Iraqi lawyer and his family. He has a British lawyer, John Tripple, but was not able to make it to the hearing.
