After Seven Years, The Rocks Steps Back To The WWE Stage

The Monday night episode of ‘Raw’ last February 14 was covered with applause as they announce that Dwayne Johnson or also known as The Rock will be the host of the Wrestlemania XXVII at Georgia Dome in Atlanta on April 3.

The Wrestlemania, described by the wwe as ” most electrifying event in entertainment,” will make Johnson to be back at wrestle for a little while as there is still now further discussion whether The Rock will continue his wrestling career after the seven long years of being a movie star. The last appearance of The Rock can dated back to the WrestleMania XX on 2004.

“I’m absolutely thrilled and fired up to be the host of WrestleMania. My goal was to partner up with Vince McMahon and WWE to create and deliver something globally entertaining and electrifying,” Johnson said before thousands of viewers.

“As an actor, entertainer and someone who both loves and has grown up in the sports entertainment business, the opportunity to host 75,000 passionate fans in a live venue, not to mention the millions that will be watching worldwide, is not only thrilling but quite honestly the opportunity of a lifetime. It’s going to be one helluva an epic night.” he added.

At Last Wizards Win Ending Their 25 Losing Streak

Wizards has been in a losing streak for a long while now at 25 lose. But just Sunday night, they made their win with Nick Young scoring 31 points, John Wall had 19 points and 14 assists against Cleveland Cavaliers at a score of 115-100.

By the first half, the Wizards pushed their lead to 22 making it hard for the Cavs to recover. At the end of the first half, the score swelled to 68-46. The third quarter was highlighted by a 25-point lead of the Washington Wizards and cut Cavaliers from coming back after their first road win last April 9 at Boston. Josh Howard of the Cleveland made their 100th score of the game by a three pointer at 8:03 remaining who is playing with a sore knee.

The Cavaliers, who also had their own losing streak at 26 which ended after the Friday game against the Los Angeles Clippers, scored by Antawn Jamison with 21 and J.J. Hickson added 16 and 13 rebounds. But as the game’s results is, Cleveland was not able to continue their winning streak.

After the San Antonio-Washington game that ended with Washington losing at 118-94, the Wizards came out focused on getting a win outside D.C.’s city limits.

The Wizards averaged at 96.7 points per game at the game.

Philippine Azkals Win Over Mongolia’s Blue Wolves

It was February 9, Philippine Time, at the Bacolod City in the West Visayas part of the Philippines when the Philippine football team or also known as Azkals (stray dogs) won over the Mongolia’s Blue Wolves in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers.

It is Chieffy Calindong of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo who kicked the first of two goals Azkals made. At the 42-minute, when the field is scrambling, Calindong is able to split the tight defense of the Mongolians. Fil-British Phil Younghusband is able to do the second goal in the fourth minute of injury time.

“This has got to be my best goal ever in six years with Philippine team,” said Chieffy in native language who played before the eyes of around 25,000 fans.

Out of 30 goal attempts of Azkals, only two got scored accounting to the defense of Blue Wolves.

“Had they not played defensively all throughout, we could have scored six to seven goals,” said Hans Micheal Weiss, head coach of Azkals.

Both football squads will meet at second round dated March 15 at Mongolia. Weiss confidently said that it’ll be easier for them since Mongolia needs three goals to win the series who thinks that by this, Mongolia’s defense will smooth down and they will have more scoring opportunities.

After 23 Seasons, Jerry Sloan Resign as Utah Jazz’ Coach

Jerry Sloan, 68, longest running coach in a NBA team and that of Utah Jazz, together with Phil Johnson, his long-time assistant resigned on Thursday. It is said that Deron Williams, Jazz’s point guard and star player, has several clashes and misunderstandings towards the coach.

This hostile relation of the coach and Williams can be highlighted to the game before the resignation. At the halftime of the game against the Chicago Bulls, there has been reports of “clash” in the locker room between the involves. The confrontation was feared by at least two Utah players that might develop into blows.

“He decided right there in halftime that he was done,” Yahoo! Sports’ league source told. “He felt like ownership was listening more to Williams than they were to him anymore. He was done.”

As of now, Tyrone Corbin, assistant coach, is acting as the head coach of the team and is expected to replace Sloan’s coaching assignments.

On Thursday, the newly-trim Utah Jazz will face-off with the Warriors in Salt Lake. Keith Smart, Warriors’ coach, also commented about the issue.

“I’m going to miss seeing him on the sideline and the toughness that he demanded from his teams.” he said. “Just being around a coach who has been in the game for so long gives you a chance to learn so much by watching (him) work,” he added.

Boston Celtics and Miami Heat Triumph Over the Weekend

With the score of 91-80, Boston Celtics beat the Orlando Magic last Sunday.

During the halftime, a tight 46-43 in favor of Boston was on score board but on the third quarter, Boston had the 15-points advantage over the Magic in a 70-55 score with 3:36 left before the fourth quarter.  The Boston-based team had a 9 out of 10 shots at that point, while the Magic struggles at 4 out of 18 shots. Rajon Rondo fires 11 out of his 26 total points in the third quarter.

Kevin Garnett added 16 points and Paul Pierce had 18 for the Celtics. Guard Ray Allen of Celtics also made two 3-points.

Dwight Howard made 28 points, which is bigger than of Rondo, and 13 rebounds for the Orlando-based team. In their eight games, Magic lost five for this season.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles Clippers lost at Miami in a 97-79 game. Miami is now at its six games winning streak.

Dwyane Wade baskets 28 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, Chris Bosh had 16, Eddie House added 15 and LeBron James made 12 pints for the Miami Heat. The fourth quarter started with the Heat bursting in an 18-4 play.

For the Los Angeles, Blake Griffin fired big 21 points and 16 rebounds making his 42nd double-double for the season. Felling on a 3-17 play, Randy Foye still manage 15 points and Baron Davis with 14.

UFC 126: Silva Defeats Belfort

Anderson Silva, sporting inside an octagon for almost half-decade and a dozen straight wins, still manages to end a fight making everyone to jump in their sits. Defending his middleweight belt, he and Vitor Belfort fight their way to victory last Saturday night.

The Brazil-native Silva kick Belfort on the head making Silva to gain his 13th consecutive UFC victory. It was timed 3:25 long fight.

“Thanks to my coach for teaching me that kick,” the champion gratitude. “Everybody should respect Vitor. Before I even started fighting, he was a champion, so he deserves your respect.” he added.

“I’ve only seen that in a video game,” UFC president Dana White said impressively.

Belfort, now having a (19-9) record, explained that he failed to block that winning kick of Silva.

“It’s no excuse. He caught me with a kick,” Belfort affirm. “I just got caught up. He faked the body, and he kicked to the head. Anderson is a great fighter.” he admit.

In the UFC history, Silva is the reigning longest champion gaining the title in October 2006. The 6 ft 2 in fighter is also known as “The Spider.”

Belfort, a native from Brazil too, a.k.a. “Phenom”, is having a hard time to his fights after losing his light heavyweight title in 2004 to Randy Couture. He is also the youngest fighter to win in UFC
