Notre Dame will now advance to its first title game after beating Cornell on Saturday with 12-7 in Baltimore. Irish secured an early lead of 4-1 using a four-goal run. The score came up to 6-3 at halftime and 7-5 through the third quarter.
But in the end, Notre Dame was still victorious after six tries of winning over Cornell. Neal Hicks was able to make four goals; Zach Brenneman scored three while the team’s goaltender Scott Rogers was able to stop 16 shots for the Fighting Irish. Hicks also restored the three-goal cushion by scoring on a rebound on the midway through the third quarter.
Notre Dame will play against Duke, the winner of the semifinal game against Virginia. Notre Dame now have their hopes up to bring home their first lacrosse title.
