Southern China prepared this Thursday for the expected arrival of the typhoon Chanthu. Flights were cancelled and more weather forecasts were issued to inform the citizens.
Chanthu is expected to landfall by mid-day in Guangdong province and continue to the island province of Hainan and the Guangxi region. With maximum winds of up to 126 kilometres per hour (about 78 mph), Chanthu is expected to bring torrential rainfall.
People were warned ahead to minimize the casualties. Flights in and out of Hainan’s Haikou were cancelled.
